Clarity: the Gateway to Freedom
The work of consciously integrating the personal design of our lives sometimes means taking those amazing twists and turns along the road. If we are actively engaged, it can be a glorious adventure – even the challenging moments. Then sometimes it feels as if we are just thrown headlong into the dance of life. Peaks and valleys, joy and sorrow, as well as steps forward, and then faltering missteps. Journeys are called to be taken. There are the ups and downs of life we experience in relationships, but we don’t always take the opportunity to questions the lessons we might take away from them. As human beings, our past is often complicated and can compromise the present. Life has recently provided me with wisdom and insights that inform my future work as both a life coach and healing touch practitioner. The experiential nature of my own healing provides me with understanding that wounding, crystallized and trapped in the physicality of the body, can release and flow into manifestation of a brave, loving and expansive new life. While it is more easily said than done, creating the capacity to lean into compassion, to look at even the smallest steps, glean their meaning and then grow into understanding and finally acceptance, means that we can shift into newness of being.
Clarity and Freedom
Guidance woke me up from a deep sleep and said, “Clarity is the gateway to freedom.” The phrase was repeated twice as I picked up my phone, hit Notes, then the microphone, and recorded it. At the suggestion of a friend, I began to use this process rather than trying the next day to decipher the scribblings in the dark from my bedside notepad. Guidance most often speaks to me in the wee hours of the morning. Perhaps it is because it is a time of day cloaked in silence, when I have slowed down enough to listen.
Then, three things came together in a 24-hour period and with them came the recognition that I had finally come to a place of clarity.
The first was my morning online meditation. In it was a charge to remember the truth of who you are and the infinite magnificence that lives within you all the time, to let your light shine, to honor the sacred temple that resides within your heart, and to be the love that you are. The meditation ended with the reminder that each of us has within the source of love and divinity, and that there is a greater purpose we are here to fulfill.
The second was in receiving news from an old freind. In response I found myself, without forethought, but with recognition of my own place in things, saying, “I am clear.”
The third in a conversation with a soul sister, a wise and empathic woman. She reminded me of unconditional love and its role in our relationships. If we can find ourselves loving unconditionally, we recognize that thoughts, emotions, words and behaviors are irrelevant in that context. What matters is loving the divine spark in another, and allowing your own divinity to hold hands with theirs, no matter the circumstances. In energy work we might call this the connection of the higher selves.
Our conversation had me reflecting on the nuances of my life. The awakened need to take action on intentionally sitting in the space of unconditional love for others, to get out of my own way and then reach forward in service to the greater purpose. It is a practice I now work with as I send healing energy to those whose names are in my prayer bowl. Upon first doing this, I found myself in a place of peace and serenity, I could feel the love that comes with setting ego aside as much as is possible. There is a piece of me that wishes I had paid attention to this sooner, as I think it would have made for approaching certain things with greater kindness, and might have supported making different choices. But then, all is as it is, and I can move forward with this practice knowing it will bring its own gifts as it deepens and grows in strength.
A month later guidance woke me up again and I received another early morning message. This one designated for someone else, “A tiny shift creates a spark that ignites the possibility of hope.” I am glad I recorded this message too, as I can also see how it now has meaning for me. There is clarity that this shift I now intentionally make in focusing on unconditional love creates a new pathway to showing up as a better version of myself. It gives me hope for a future that carries with it a far greater sense of compassion and understanding.
